The purpose of this study is to reconstruct the social conflicts and value formation observed in sports from a pragmatist perspective. To this end, it examines the theoretical foundations and methodological characteristics of John Dewey’s pragmatism and conceptualizes sport as a site of public inquiry where values emerge through the interaction between internal and external utility. Next, by analyzing the equal pay dispute of the U.S. women’s national soccer team and the 2020 NBA players’ boycott, the study demonstrates that problem reconstruction through creative intelligence transforms existing justificatory structures and generates institutional change, while the legitimacy of value is secured as warranted assertibility through public inquiry. Finally, the practical reconstruction of sports ethics is presented as a process of redescription that transforms justificatory structures, materializing in the redesign of compensation systems, the pluralization of evaluation criteria, and the ongoing redefinition of core normative concepts.

본 연구의 목적은 스포츠에서 나타나는 사회적 갈등과 가치 형성을실용주의적 관점에서 재구성하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 먼저 존 듀이 실용주의의 이론적 기초와 방법론적 특성을 정리하고, 이를 바탕으로 스포츠를 내적 유용성과 외적 유용성의 상호작용 속에서 가치가 형성되는 공적 탐구의 장으로 개념화하였다. 다음으로 미국 여자축구 국가대표팀의동일임금 논쟁과 2020년 NBA 선수들의 집단 보이콧 사례를 분석하여, 창조적 지성에 의한 문제 재구성이 기존의 정당화 구조를 전환하고 제도적 변화를 산출하는 핵심 원리로 작동함을 규명하였다. 이를 통해 가치의 정당성은 선험적으로 주어지는 것이 아니라 공적 탐구를 통해 보증된 주장가능성으로 확보된다는 점을 밝혔다. 끝으로 스포츠윤리의 실천적 재구성은 재서술을 통해 기존의 정당화 구조를 전환하는 과정으로도출되며, 이러한 원리는 보상 체계의 재설계, 평가 기준의 다원화, 핵심규범 개념의 지속적 재정의와 같은 방향으로 구체화될 수 있음을 논증하였다.
