This study explored the lived experiences of female amateur soccer participants and coaches from a phenomenological perspective, focusing on how adult women’s soccer participation is formed and understood within relational contexts. In-depth interviews were conducted with nine participants and three coaches, and the data were analyzed using Giorgi’s (1985) descriptive phenomenological method. The findings indicated that participants’ initial hesitation was related less to physical ability than to limited experience with team sports. Amateur soccer participation emerged as a relational process through which opportunities for participation and bodily confidence were gradually developed. Coaches also shifted from a technique-centered approach toward supporting participation conditions and participants’ experiences. These findings suggest that women’s amateur soccer participation should be understood from relational and experiential perspectives rather than performance-oriented views.

본 연구는 여성 아마추어 축구 참여자와 지도자의 삶의 경험을 현상학적으로 탐구하여, 성인 여성의 축구 참여가 어떠한 조건과 관계 속에서 형성되고 의미화되는지 살펴보았다. 여성 아마추어 축구 참여자 9명, 지도자 3명과 심층면담을 진행하고 Giorgi(1985)의 묘사적 현상학 방법으로 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 참여 초기의 낯섦과 조심스러움은 신체 능력의 부족이 아닌 팀스포츠 경험의 부재에서 비롯되었다. 여성 아마추어축구 참여는 단순 기술 습득 과정보다 관계 속에서 참여 가능성과 신체적 자신감이 형성되는 경험 과정이었다. 또한 참여의 지속은 개인적 성취보다 팀에서의 인정 경험과 관계적 조건에 의해 형성되었으며, 지도자역시 기술 중심에서 참여 조건과 경험 구조를 조직하는 방향으로 지도관점을 전환하였다. 이러한 결과는 여성 아마추어 축구 참여가 기술 습득 자체보다, 참여 가능성이 형성되고 신체 인식이 변화하는 과정에서의미화되고 있음을 보여준다. 이는 성인 여성 스포츠 참여를 수행 중심이 아닌 관계적, 경험적 관점에서 재이해할 필요가 있음을 시사한다.
