Indian novelist Bharti Kirchner immigrated to the United States of America. Her understanding of Indian cooking techniques aided in the development of her successful writing career. There aren’t many reviews or critiques accessible for Bharti Kirchner, who is a relatively new writer. This paper attempts to analyze the issue of identity and diaspora in Darjeeling by Bharti Kirchner in the context of cross-border, cross-cultural, cross-racial, and cross-national communication and engagement. It is crucial to comprehend the meaning of the term “diaspora” as well as popular conceptions about diasporic traits and lifestyles. It focuses mostly on issues related to cultural identity, marginalization, shock, and clashes between cultures, as well as issues with assimilation and adaptation, hegemony, disintegration, and discontinuity in the cultural debate.

인도 출신 소설가 바르티 커취너는 미국으로 이주하였다. 인도 요리 기법에 대한 그녀의 이해는 성공적인 작가 경력을 발전시키는 데 기여하였다. 비교적 신진 작가인 그녀에 대해서는 아직 많은 리뷰나 비평이 많지 실정이다. 본 논문은 다르질링에서 나타나는 정체성과 디아스포라의 문제를 국경 간, 문화 간, 인종 간, 그리고 국가 간 소통과 교류라는 맥락 속에서 분석하고자 한다. 또한 “디아스포라”라는 용어의 의미와 디아스포라적 특성 및 삶의 방식에 대한 일반적인 인식을 이해하는 것이 중요하다. 이 논문은 주로 문화적 정체성, 주변화, 문화 충격, 문화 간 충돌과 같은 문제뿐만 아니라 동화와 적응, 헤게모니, 해체, 그리고 문화 담론 속의 불연속성과 관련된 문제들에 초점을 맞춘다.
