This study aims to examine the effectiveness of digital-based invention education that reflects learners’ characteristics in digital technology use. To reduce the burden of device use for lower-grade elementary students, the program was designed using tablet PC, which support intuitive touch-based interaction, immediate recording and storage, and easy sharing and collaboration. The program was structured around the stages of digital documentation, inquiry, creation, and sharing to support the visualization, expansion, and concretization of invention ideas, and was implemented with 26 second-grade students. Inductive content analysis of students’ outputs, interviews, and teachers’ observation records revealed that the tablet-based digital invention education facilitated visualization of ideas, active participation, idea expansion and refinement, and enhanced communication and reflection. The study is meaningful in proposing strategies to improve the effectiveness of invention education through digital integration while considering learners’ digital use characteristics.

본 연구는 학습자의 디지털 활용 특성을 고려한 디지털 기반 발명 교육의 효과성을 탐색하는 데 목적이 있다. 저학년 학습자의 디지털 기기 활용 부담을 낮추기 위해 터치 기반의 직관적 조작, 즉각적인 기록과 저장, 간편 한 공유 및 협력 활동이 가능한 태블릿 PC를 활용하여 발명 교육을 설계하였다. 발명 교육 프로그램은 디지털 기록-탐구-창작-공유의 단계를 거치며 발명 아이디어를 시각화하고 확장하며 구체화할 수 있도록 설계하였고, 초등학교 2학년 26명에게 적용하였다. 학습자 산출물과 학생 면담, 교사의 관찰 기록을 귀납적 내용 분석을 통 해 분석한 결과, 태블릿 PC를 활용한 디지털 기반 발명 교육은 발명 아이디어의 시각화 촉진, 적극적인 학습 참 여, 발명 아이디어의 확장과 구체화, 소통 및 성찰 촉진에 긍정적인 영향을 주는 것을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 학 습자의 디지털 활용 특성을 고려하고, 디지털과 연계하여 발명 교육의 효과성을 높일 수 있는 방안을 제시하였 다는 점에서 의미가 있다.
