This study represents an interdisciplinary challenge and attempt to explore the convergence of Korean Christian art and biblical theology, as well as the missional application of such interdisciplinary research. Focusing on Dawn of Unbelief (2011), a work by the contemporary Korean Christian artist Ohcheon Lee Hwan-young (1945-present), this paper conducts an iconographic analysis of the artwork alongside a Biblical-Theological study of its scriptural background, Luke 22:61-62. Based on in-depth interviews and dialogues between the researcher, a biblical theologian, and Ohcheon, an artist in the field of Korean Christian art, this study integrates theological reflection with artistic interpretation. Methodologically, it adopts an Aesthetic-Biblical Interpretation/Approach, which combines iconographic analysis of the painting with exegetical study of the biblical text.

본 연구는 한국 기독교미술과 성서신학의 간학문적 연구와 그 연구 결 과의 선교적 활용을 모색하기 위한 하나의 도전과 시도라고 할 수 있다. 이 논문은 현존하는 한국 기독교 미술인으로서 오천 이환영(1945-현재) 화백의 한국 기독교미술 작품들 가운데 <불신앙의 새벽>(2011)에 관한 도 상학적 연구와 그 작품의 배경 본문인 ‘누가복음 22장 61-62절’ 본문에 관한 성서신학적 연구로 이루어졌다. 성서신학자로서 본 연구자와 한국 기 독교 미술 분야의 예술가로서 오천의 실제 대화와 토론을 바탕으로 이루어진 성화의 <도상학적 해석>과 해당 성경 본문에 대한 <주석적 연구>을 결합한 ‘미학적성서해석’(미학적-성서적 접근)을 연구방법론으로 활용하였다.
