[Purpose] As the demand for rural tourism increases as the number of travel days increases due to the revision of elementary and middle school curriculum and the implementation of the five-day workweek, rural areas are developing and operating experiential activities corresponding to education, leisure, and culture based on pluralistic values. In particular, from an educational perspective, rural experiential programs have great environmental educational significance because they allow students to not only directly encounter nature, but also develop ecological sensitivity and learn attitudes toward living in harmony with nature. [Methodology] Accordingly, this study aims to deeply analyze the specific experiences and perceptions of elementary school students who experienced rural experiential programs through a grounded theory approach, to examine how rural experience activities stimulate and expand ecological sensitivity, and to provide baseline data for improving their operational efficiency. To conduct this study, we reviewed previous research, designed an open-ended, semi-structured questionnaire, and conducted in-depth interviews with eight upper-grade elementary school students and four teachers. [Findings] The raw data transcribed from the interview records were analyzed using the grounded theory approach suggested by Strauss & Corbin(1998) in the order of open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. In the open coding process, a total of 15 upper categories, 33 lower categories, and 222 concepts were derived, and a paradigm model was designed with these categories. [Implications] Through these results, this study closely examined the construct of ecological sensitivity in the context of elementary school students’ rural experience activities. These results indicate that rural experiential learning fosters students’ ecological awareness and behavioral change. Above all, the fact that rural learning programs go beyond providing simple experiences and serve as an educational device that stimulates students' ecological sensitivity and realizes attitude changes enhances the significance and value of this study. Furthermore, by suggesting the content that rural experiential programs as experiential environmental education should be improved, we hope that it can be used as basic data for operators of experiential farms to operate and manage rural experience activities.

[연구목적] 초ž중등학교 교육과정 개정과 주5일제 시행으로 여행일수가 증가하면서 농촌관광에 대한 수요 가 높아짐에 따라 농촌은 다원적 가치를 바탕으로 교육ž여가ž문화에 상응하는 체험활동을 개발ž운영하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 근거이론 접근법을 통해 농촌체험활동을 경험한 초등학생의 구체적인 경험과 인식을 심층적으 로 분석하여 생태적 감수성 환기 및 확장에 미치는 영향을 파악하고 농촌체험활동의 운영 효율성 향상에 필요 한 기초자료를 제공한다. [연구방법] 이러한 연구 수행을 위해 선행연구 검토와 함께 반구조화된 개방형 질문지를 설계하여 초등학 교 고학년 학생 8명과 교사 4명을 대상으로 심층 면담을 실시하였다. 면담 기록을 전사한 원자료는 Strauss & Corbin(1998)이 제시한 근거이론 접근법을 사용하여 개방코딩(open coding), 축코딩(axial coding), 선택코딩 (selective coding) 순으로 분석하였다. [연구결과] 분석 결과, 개방코딩 과정에서 총 15개의 상위범주와 33개의 하위범주, 222개의 개념이 도출되었 으며. 이를 토대로 패러다임 모형을 설계하였다. 이러한 연구 결과를 통해 초등학생의 농촌체험활동 경험에 따른 생태적 감수성의 내용에 대해 면밀하게 확인할 수 있었다. [연구의 시사점] 농촌체험활동은 단순한 체험 제공을 넘어 학생들의 생태적 감수성을 환기하고 태도 변화 를 이끄는 교육적 장치로 작용함을 확인하였다. 교육적 측면에서 농촌체험활동은 학생들이 자연을 직접 접할 뿐만 아니라 생태적 감수성을 기르면서 자연과 더불어 살아가는 태도를 배울 수 있어 환경교육적 의미가 크다. 그리고 나아가 체험환경교육으로서의 농촌체험활동이 개선되어야 할 내용을 제시함에 따라 교육적ž정책적 실 효성을 높이는 데 기여할 수 있기를 기대한다.
