Objectives This study aimed to analyze and compare the serve types, serve placements, and point outcomes based on gender among high school table tennis players who reached the singles quarterfinals of the 62nd National Junior Table Tennis Championships in Korea. Methods The subjects were 16 male and female high school athletes registered with the Korea Table Tennis Association, and a total of 604 serves (343 by male players, 261 by female players) were analyzed using match footage. Serve types were categorized as cut, spin, hook, and YG serves. Serve placements were divided into six zones: long fore side (Zone 1), long middle (Zone 2), long back side (Zone 3), short fore side (Zone 4), short middle (Zone 5), and short back side (Zone 6). Results The results showed that male players primarily used cut (45.5%) and spin (39.1%) serves, while female players most frequently used hook serves (44.8%). In terms of serve placement, Zones 5 and 6 were most common among male players, whereas Zone 2 was the most frequently used by female players. The highest serve point rates were observed for spin serves to Zone 1 among male players and hook serves to Zones 2 and 5 among female players. However, a higher frequency of use was generally associated with an increased rate of lost points as well. Conclusions These findings highlight gender-based differences in serve strategies and provide foundational data for technical guidance and tactical training in high school players. The results may also be applicable to tactical planning in mixed doubles and other match formats.

본 연구는 제62회 전국 남녀 중·고학생종별탁구대회 단식 8강에 진출한 남녀 고등학교 탁구선수들의 경기를 분석하여, 성별에 따른 서브 유형과 위치, 그리고 서브에 따른 득실점 양상을 비교하고자 하였다. 연구 대상은 대한탁구협회에 등록된 고등학교 남녀 선수 16명의 8강 단식경기 영상이며, 총 604개의 서브(남자 343개, 여자 261개)를 분석하였다. 서브 유형은 커트, 회전, 훅, YG 서브로 구분하였고, 서브 위치는 6개 영역으로 Back side의 먼 위치는 1번, 가까운 위치는 4번, middle의 먼 위치는 2번, 가까운 위치는 5번, Fore side의 먼 위치는 3번, 가까운 위치는 6번으로 구분하였다. 분석 결과, 남자 선수는 커트 서브(45.5%)와 회전 서브(39.1%)를 주로 사용하였으며, 여자 선수는 훅 서브(44.8%)의 사용 비율이 가장 높았다. 서브 위치는 남자 선수는 가까운 위치인 5번과 6번, 여자 선수 는 번 위치인 2번에서 가장 많이 나타났다. 서브 득점률은 남자 선수의 경우 회전 서브 1번 위치, 여자 선수는 훅 서브 2번 및 5번 위치에서 가장 높았으며, 사용 빈도가 높을수록 실점률도 함께 증가하는 경 향이 확인되었다. 본 연구는 성별에 따른 서브 전략의 차이를 규명함으로써 고등학교 선수의 기술지도와 전술 훈련에 기초자료를 제공하며, 향후 혼합복식 등 다양한 경기 유형에서의 전술 수립에도 활용될 수 있다.
