This study aimed to understand how older adults in Korea subjectively perceive successful aging and to identify its conceptual structure. Using the concept mapping method, 14 older adults interested in successful aging participated in individual interviews, leading to the generation of 81 final statements. Participants then sorted the statements by similarity and rated their importance. Based on these data, multidimensional scaling and hierarchical cluster analysis were conducted. The analysis revealed two key dimensions—personal vs. relational focus and external/physical vs. internal/psychological well-being—and five clusters: happy family life, acceptance and adaptation, vitality and health, self-fulfillment through activities, and material stability. These findings provide insight into the aging ideals of Korean older adults and offer a foundation for developing programs and policies that support successful aging.

본 연구는 성공적 노화가 무엇인지에 대한 현재 한국노인들의 주관적 인식을 이해하고 그 개념적 구 조를 확인하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위하여 개념도 연구 방법을 사용하였다. 성공적 노화에 관심이 있는 노인 14명을 개별 인터뷰하여 성공적 노화에 대한 아이디어를 수집하고, 이를 바탕으로 81개의 최종진술문을 도출하였다. 최종진술문에 대해 연구 참여자들이 직접 실시한 유사성 분류와 중요도 평정을 기반으로 다차원 척도법과 위계적 군집분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 한국노인의 성공적 노화에 대한 인식은 2개의 차원(개인초점적 대 관계초점적, 외적․물리적 안녕감 대 내적․ 심리적 안녕감), 5개의 군집으로 확인되었다. 5개 군집은 행복한 가족, 순응과 수용, 활력과 건강, 활동을 통한 자아실현, 물질적 안정이었다. 본 연구의 결과는 한국노인들이 바라는 노년기를 이해 하는 데 도움을 주었으며, 향후 성공적 노화를 위한 프로그램과 정책 개발의 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.
