This study examines how middle-aged adults’ attitudes toward dementia influence dementia-prevention behaviors, focusing on a dual-mediation mechanism of aging anxiety and family cohesion. Using 503 valid questionnaires collected nationwide in Korea (April–May 2024), we found that a positive dementia attitude not only directly promotes prevention behaviors but also exerts significant indirect effects through family cohesion and a sequential path from aging anxiety to family cohesion. The indirect path via aging anxiety alone was not significant. The findings highlight the need for interventions that simultaneously improve personal cognition and strengthen family support systems to effectively enhance prevention behaviors among middle-aged adults.

본 연구는 중년기 성인을 대상으로 하여, 치매에 대한 태도가 치매예방행위에 미치는 직접적 영향과 더불 어 노화불안 및 가족응집력이 개입하는 간접경로를 함께 살핀 이중매개 구조를 실증적으로 규명하고자 기획되었 다. 2024년 4월부터 5월까지 전국의 건강가정지원센터와 중년기 커뮤니티를 통해 수집된 503부의 설문자료를 분 석한 결과, 치매에 대한 긍정적 태도는 예방행위를 직접적으로 증진시키는 동시에, 가족응집력을 경유하는 간접효 과와 노화불안이 가족응집력에 영향을 미쳐 다시 예방행위로 이어지는 이중경로에서도 통계적 유의성이 확인되었 다. 반면, 노화불안 단독 경로의 간접효과는 유의하지 않았다. 이러한 결과는 중년기의 치매 예방을 위해 개인 인 식의 개선과 더불어 가족 단위의 정서적 지지망을 강화하는 사회적 개입이 병행될 때 예방행위가 가장 실질적으 로 증진될 수 있음을 시사한다.
