This qualitative study aimed to explore the service utilization experiences of older adults with dementia to provide foundational data for the development of dementia-related policies and programs. Data were collected through focus group interviews with six older adults with mild dementia residing in City S who were participating in a Dementia Care Center program, and analyzed using content analysis. The findings identified three main themes ‘Motivations for Service Use’, ‘Program Participation Experience’ and ‘Program Needs’ along with six subthemes. The Dementia Care Center's day-care program was found to function as a community-based integrated care model that supports emotional well-being and restoration of social relationships among people with dementia. The results suggest the necessity of developing individualized programs tailored to the cognitive, emotional, and physical characteristics of individuals with dementia, as well as the quantitative and qualitative expansion of services.

본 연구는 치매 노인을 대상으로 치매안심센터 프로그램 이용 경험을 심층적으로 탐색하여 치매 정책 및 프로그램 개발의 기초자료를 제공하고자 시도된 질적 연구이다. S시에 거주하는 경증 치매 노인 6명을 대상으로 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 통해 자료를 수집하였고 내용분석법을 적용하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과 ‘서비스 이용 동기’, ‘프로그램 이용 경험’, ‘프로그램 요구도’의 세 가지 주제와 여섯 개의 하위 주제가 도출되었으며 치매안심센터 쉼 터 프로그램이 정서적 지지 및 사회적 관계 회복을 돕는 지역사회 기반 통합 돌봄 모델로 기능하고 있음을 확인 하였다. 향후 치매 노인의 인지적·정서적·신체적 특성을 반영한 개별 맞춤형 프로그램 개발과 서비스의 양적·질적 확대가 요구된다.
