This research explored trends in gut microbiome studies related to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). A review of 109 PubMed articles (2014-2024), using bibliometric and text-mining techniques, revealed growing focus on interactions among immune responses, metabolism, and microbial ecosystems. Key MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) terms like “gastrointestinal microbiome” showed strong connectivity in co-occurrence networks. Articles on newer topics had significantly more citations (median = 19 vs. 4, p = 0.041), reflecting their impact. Notably, none of the studies used machine learning, pointing to a missed opportunity. These findings underscore the need for causal research, biomarker validation, and AI integration to advance clinical applications.
