[Purpose] The purpose of this study is to investigate the evolution of Neokdongbegi, a traditional form of Yut-nori in Jeju. [Method] Various literature materials such as various academic papers, newspaper materials, and literary materials related to Neokdongbegi were reviewed, and the following results were derived by conducting interviews with related persons on the method of playing Neokdongbegi. [Result & Conclusion] First, the term Nukdongbegi is a Jeju language that means out four horses, and it reveals different characteristics from ordinary yutnori in the form of throwing 2-3cm of yut into a bell paper, the form in which the center line is drawn on the yut board, and the unique form of the horse board. Second, Nukdongbegi was used in the past as a fortune-telling act to predict the good fortune of individuals, but was later handed down as a community game enjoyed by Guendang during the beginning and village feasts in Jeju society, but now it is regarded as a gambling game in Jeju society and is neglected by future generations and is at the limit of not being passed on as a community play culture.

[목적] 본 연구는 제주의 전통적인 윷놀이 형태인 넉동베기가 진화해 온 과정을 규명하기 위한 목적을 가지고 있다. [방법] 넉동베기와 관련된 각종 학술 논문 및 신문자료 등 다양한 문헌자료를 고찰하였으며 넉동베기의 놀이 방법에 대한 경험자 인터뷰의 과정을 거쳐 다음의 결론을 도출하였다. [결과 및 결론] 첫째, 넉동베기라는 용어는‘네 개의 말을 밖으로 뺀다’라는 의미의 제주어이며, 2-3cm의 윷을 종지에 넣고 던지는 형태, 윷판에 중앙선이 그려진 형태, 말판의 독특한 형태에 있어서는 일반적인 윷놀이와 다른 특성을 드러내고 있다. 둘째, 넉동베기는 과거에 개인의 길흉을 점치는 점술적 행위로 활용되다가 이후 제주 사회에서 정초 및 마을 잔치가 있을 때 궨당이 모여 즐기는 공동체 놀이로 전승되었 지만, 현재는 제주 사회에서 사행성 놀이로 치부되면서 미래 세대에게 외면받으며 공동체적 놀이문화로서 전승되지 못하는 한계에 놓여 있다.
