Climate change has increased both the frequency and intensity of forest fires in recent years, raising concerns about secondary disasters such as soil erosion and shallow landslides in fireaffected forests. To prevent these secondary disasters, various techniques, such as mulching and seeding, have been implemented globally to support forest restoration. Furthermore, Naturebased Solutions (NbS) have gained international attention in recent years as an effective approach for both disaster mitigation and the restoration of fire-damaged forest ecosystems. This study aimed to conduct a comparative bibliometric analysis of research trends related to the restoration of fire-affected forests and the application of NbS in South Korea and abroad. Domestic research articles were collected using the RISS database, while international research articles were sourced from the SCOPUS database, covering the period from 1980 to 2024. Research on wildfire restoration has primarily focused on data-driven restoration and management strategies, analysis of forest ecosystem resilience to fire intensity, and the relationship between soil properties and vegetation recovery. Studies on NbS in fire-affected forests have emphasized their role in forest restoration and management, as well as the evaluations of effectiveness and policy-related approaches. In South Korea, research has mainly addressed ecosystem recovery, forest management, and soil biodiversity following wildfires. However, studies specifically exploring restoration techniques that incorporate NbS remain limited. Therefore, further investigation into such techniques, along with postmonitoring evaluations of their effectiveness, is essential for the sustainable management of wildfire-affected forests.
