This study aims to empirically examine the trends and characteristics of academic studies on public safety conducted in South Korea over the past decade (2015–2024) using big data-based text mining and social network analysis, and to propose future directions for the development of public safety research by identifying its distinctive features and patterns of change. A total of 2,682 domestic academic articles were collected and categorized into two periods: the first from 2015 to 2019 and the second from 2020 to 2024. Term Frequency– Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) analysis was conducted through text mining, followed by semantic network analysis and CONCOR cluster analysis. The findings indicate a shift in public safety research in South Korea from institutional and physical approaches toward a more diversified and multilayered landscape, encompassing topics such as data utilization based on digital infrastructure, healthcare and medical safety, and community-related issues. Based on these findings, the study suggests the expansion of convergent research methodologies, the broadening of research scope within the field of public safety, and the reinforcement of empirical studies grounded in local communities. The academic significance of this study lies in its empirical, big data-based analysis of the domestic research landscape on public safety, which offers meaningful insights for the advancement of future scholarly work in this field.

본 연구는 지난 10년간(2015~2024년) 국내에서 이루어진 공공안전과 관련된 학술 연구 의 동향 및 특성을 빅데이터 기반의 텍스트마이닝과 사회연결망 분석을 활용하여 실증적 으로 분석하고, 그 특성과 변화 양상을 파악함으로써 향후 공공안전 연구의 발전 방향을 제시하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 국내 학술논문 2,682편을 수집하여 1구간은 2015 년~2019년, 2구간은 2020년~2024년으로 구간을 구분하였다. 연구 분석은 텍스트마이닝을 통해 TF-IDF 값을 도출하였으며 의미연결망 분석과 CONCOR 군집분석을 수행하였다. 연구 결과, 국내 공공안전 연구는 제도적, 물리적 접근 중심의 연구 경향에서 디지털을 기 반으로 하는 데이터 활용, 의료 및 보건 안전 분야, 지역사회와 관련된 다양한 연구 등으로 주제가 다양해지며 다층화되는 경향이 나타났다. 이에 본 연구는 융합적 연구 방법론의 확대, 공공안전의 연구 범위 확대, 지역사회 기반의 실증 연구 강화 등의 발전 방향성에 관해 제언하였다. 본 연구는 국내 공공안전 학술 연구의 동향을 빅데이터 기반의 실증적 방법을 분석하였으며 이를 통해 향후 공공안전 분야의 학술적 발전을 위한 발전 방향성을 제언하였다는 데 학술적 의의가 있다.
