The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of a couple's conversation time on their relationship with in-law parents and their children's education. For this purpose, a survey was conducted among 1,200 married adult men and women, and the data collected were subjected to correlation, factor analysis, and analysis of variance to examine the relationship between the main variables. The results of the analysis showed that the more time couples spend communicating with each other, the more positive relationships and less conflict they have with their in-laws, and the more consistent parenting attitudes and mutual respect they have for their children's education. In particular, a strong positive correlation was found between marriage time and age (r = 0.852, p < .01), and five factors were identified, life cycle, socioeconomic status, gender roles and traditional family views, regional · cultural factors, and child-centered values, explaining 67.3% of the total variance. Couples who communicate more than two hours a day were found to have positive attributes across family functioning. This study implies that sufficient communication between couples is an important factor in improving the quality of relationships within the family and the effectiveness of children's education, suggesting that practical strategies to increase couple communication are needed.

본 연구는 부부의 대화시간이 시댁·처가와의 관계 및 자녀 교육에 미치는 영향을 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 기혼 성인 남녀 1,200명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였으며, 수집된 자료는 상관분석, 요인분석, 분산분석 등을 통해 주요 변수 간의 관계를 검토하였다. 분석 결과, 부부 간 대화시간이 많을수록 시댁·처가와의 긍정적인 관계 형성과 갈등 완화에 유의미한 영향을 미쳤으며, 자녀 교육 측면에서도 일관된 양육 태도와 상호 존중의 수준이 높게 나타났다. 특히 결혼기간과 연령 간에는 높은 정적 상관관계(r = 0.852, p < .01)가 확인되었고, 생애주기, 사회경제적 지위, 성역할 및 전통 가족관, 지역·문화적 요인, 자녀 중심 가치 등 5개의 요인이 도출되어 전체 분산의 67.3%를 설명하였다. 하루 2시간 이상 대화하는 부부는 가족 기능 전반에서 긍정적인 특성을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 부부 간의 충분한 대화가 가족 내 관계의 질 향상과 자녀 교육의 효과성을 증진시키는 중요한 요소임을 시사하며, 이에 따라 부부 대화 증진을 위한 실천적 전략 마련이 요구된다.
