This study investigated the relationship between lifelong learning motivation and successful aging among the baby boomer generation, focusing on the mediating role of self-efficacy. A survey was conducted in February 2025 with second-generation baby boomers (born 1964–1974) in Gyeonggi Province, and data were analyzed using structural equation modeling (SEM). The results revealed that lifelong learning motivation positively influenced both successful aging and self-efficacy, with self-efficacy partially mediating this relationship. These findings suggest that promoting successful aging requires enhancing lifelong learning participation and fostering environments that strengthen self-efficacy. Accordingly, lifelong learning policies should move beyond improving access and focus on building psychological and social resources.

본 연구는 초고령 사회로 진입하는 상황에서 노년층의 핵심 집단인 베이비붐 세대의 성공적 노화에 주목 하여, 평생학습 참여동기와 성공적 노화의 관계에서 자기효능감의 매개효과를 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 경기 도에 거주하는 2차 베이비붐 세대(1964~1974년생)를 대상으로 2025년 2월 설문조사를 실시하고, 구조방정식 모형 (SEM)을 활용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 평생학습 참여동기는 성공적 노화에 유의한 정(+)의 직접효과를 가지 며, 동시에 자기효능감에도 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 참여동기와 성공적 노화의 관계에서 자 기효능감은 부분 매개효과를 갖는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 결과는 베이비붐 세대의 성공적 노화를 촉진하기 위 해서는 평생학습 참여를 활성화하고, 자기효능감을 증진할 수 있는 학습환경과 사회참여 기반을 강화할 필요성을 보여준다. 특히, 국가와 지자체의 평생학습정책이 단순히 학습기회 확대에 그치지 않고, 자기효능감을 강화하는 방 향으로 설계되어야 함을 시사한다.
