- The purpose of this study is to understand the meaning of the hospitalization experience of elderly patients in nursing hospitals through phenomenological methods and to provide a deep exploration and description of that experience. The study targets seven elderly patients aged 65 or older admitted to a nursing hospital in City C, selected based on patient classification criteria. Data were collected through in-depth interviews from December 2023 to February 2024, and analyzed using Giorgi's phenomenological method. The results revealed four key themes: hospital life adaptation, social isolation, medical dependence, and emotional well-being. Based on these findings, nursing intervention programs should be developed to improve the quality of life for elderly patients in nursing hospitals and enhance the quality of care services. We aim, through this study, to deeply understand the experiences of elderly patients in nursing hospitals in the context of an aging society. Based on these findings, we seek to reemphasize the importance and role of nursing hospitals, propose new roles for nurses, and develop nursing interventions in the field of gerontological nursing, thereby contributing both academically and practically.

- 본 연구의 목적은 현상학적 방법을 통해 요양병원 입원 노인의 입원 생활 경험의 의미가 무엇인지 이해하고, 그 현상의 의미를 심층적으로 기술하고 이해하는 것이다. 본 연구의 대상자는 C 시에 있는 요양병원에 입원 중인 65 세 이상 노인 환자 중 환자분류표에 근거하여 의료 경도이거나 신체기능저하군에 속하며 인지기능에 장애가 없고 자 기 경험을 말로 표현하는 데 어려움이 없는 7명을 선정하였다. 연구 방법은 심층 인터뷰로 2023년 12월부터 2024년 2월까지 자료를 수집하였다. 인터뷰 자료는 Giorgi의 현상학적 방법으로 분석하였다. 연구 결과 ‘병원 생활 적응’, ‘사 회적 고립’, ‘의료적 의존성’, ‘정서적 안녕으로 나타났다. 따라서 요양병원 입원 노인의 삶의 질을 향상하게 시키고 돌봄 서비스의 질적 개선을 위한 간호 중재 프로그램이 개발되어야 할 것이다. 우리는 이 연구를 통해 고령화 사회에서 요양 병원 입원 노인의 경험을 심층적으로 이해하고, 이를 바탕으로 요양병원의 역할과 중요성을 재조명하며, 노인 간호학 분야에서 간호사의 새로운 역할과 간호 중재 방안을 제시함으로써 학문적 및 실천적 기여를 하고자 한다.
