This study surveyed cyber university students enrolled in an English writing course to examine how ChatGPT influences their learning process and assess its educational potential. Participants used ChatGPT without prior instruction and completed a questionnaire on their experiences. Results indicate high satisfaction, with 89.1% finding ChatGPT useful for English writing, primarily for feedback on grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure. However, students noted limitations, such as insufficient support for self-directed writing skills and a lack of clear guidance for improving writing organization. In terms of affective impact, ChatGPT was found to increase writing confidence and reduce stress, although its effect on fostering interest in writing varied. Overall, these findings suggest that while ChatGPT can be beneficial, effective integration may require additional instructor support to provide personalized feedback and supplement areas where ChatGPT falls short. Based on the results of this study, suggestions are made for effectively utilizing ChatGPT as an educational tool for cyber learners.
