The autonomous police system has been implemented nationwide since July 2021, and in the case of Gyeonggi Province, the autonomous police system has been introduced and operated by dividing it into southern and northern regions. The autonomous police system is promoting decentralization of police authority by dividing police affairs into national police and autonomous police affairs and dispersing command and supervisors for each office. National police work refers to work excluding autonomous police work because it is for carrying out police duties. Autonomous police work refers to work such as life safety, traffic, security, and investigation within the jurisdictional area within the police's duties. This study compares the status of autonomous police work in the southern and northern parts of Gyeonggi-do and identifies operational conditions, and discovers appropriate security policies through comparative analysis to identify security needs suited to regional characteristics. I wanted to find out what this was. Through this, the goal is to secure the safety of local residents closer to them by taking charge of regional security administration tailored to regional characteristics.

자치경찰제도는 경찰사무를 국가경찰사무와 자치경찰사무로 구분하고 각 사무별 지휘·감독자 를 분산하는 등 경찰권한의 분권화를 추진하고 있다. 국가경찰사무는 경찰의 임무를 수행하기 위한 사무로 자치경찰사무를 제외한 사무를 말하며, 자치경찰사무는 경찰의 임무 내 관할지역 내 생활안전·교통, 경비·수사 등의 사무를 말한다. 본 연구는 경기도 남부와 북부로 나누어 운영되고 있는 자치경찰사무에 대해 남부와 북부의 자치경찰 사무의 현황 비교와 운영 실태에 대해 파악하고 지역특성에 맞는 치안수요 파악을 위한 비교분석을 통해 적절한 치안시책 발굴이 무엇인지 알아보고자 했다. 이를 통해 지역특성에 맞는 지역밀착형 치안행정을 담당함으로써 지역주민의 더 가까이에서 주민안전을 확보하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다.
