This study analyzed the association between physical activity and depression in elderly using raw data from the Third Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(KNHANES Ⅷ-2). The data for the analysis included socioeconomic and health-related variables, levels of moderate physical activity, resistance exercise and walking, depression. Odds ratio and 95% confidence interval were calculated for association using the complex sample logistic regression analysis. The results showed walking initially demonstrated a significant association with reduced depression, this relationship disappeared after adjusting for confounding variables. Resistance exercise showed a strong association with decreased depression. The findings of this study provide emphasize the importance of resistance exercise and suggest the need for tailored exercise programs that consider the characteristics and preferences of older adults.

본 연구는 2020년 국민건강영양조사 원시 자료를 이용하여 노인의 신체활동 수준과 우울증과의 연관성을 분석하였 다. 연구 대상자의 일반적 특성, 건강 관련 변인, 신체활동 수준, 그리고 우울증을 조사하였고, 각 변인이 우울증에 미치는 영 향, 신체활동과 우울증과의 관련성을 분석하기 위해 복합표본 교차분석 및 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실사하였다. 그 결과, 유산소 신체활동은 우울증과 유의한 관련성이 없었고, 걷기는 우울증 감소와 유의한 관련성이 나타났으나, 일반적 특성 및 건강 관련 변인을 보정한 후에는 유의성이 나타나지 않았다. 근력 운동 참여는 우울증 감소와 강한 관련성을 보였다. 본 연구의 결과는 노인의 우울증 예방 및 관리를 위한 신체활동 프로그램 개발에 중요한 시사점을 제공한다. 특히 근력 운동의 중요성을 강조하 며, 우울증 예방과 감소를 위하여 노인의 다양한 특성과 선호도를 고려한 다양한 신체활동 프로그램의 필요성을 제안한다.
