This study noted that the alternative concepts of the Neo-Kohlbergian, which modified the problems of the Kohlberg's theory, are very similar to some of the concepts of Piaget's theory. The reason is that although it is commonly known that the Kohlberg's theory expanded and replaced the Piaget's theory, the Neo-Kohlbergian overcame the limitations of the Kohlberg's theory with the Piaget's theory. This study demonstrated that the schema and micro-moral concepts proposed by Neo-Kohlbergian to solve the problems of the Kohlberg's theory were already treated seriously in the Piaget theory, and discussed the meaning of this phenomenon. Finally, this study argued that Piaget theory is still useful in current moral psychology, and as an example, suggested the need for empirical scientific research on reversibility, the core concept of Piaget's moral development theory.

본 연구에서는 콜버그 이론에 대한 신콜버그 학파의 대안적 개념들이 피아제 이론의 중요 개념들과 매우 유사하다는 점에 주목하였다. 흔히 콜버그 이론이 피아제 이론을 확장, 대체했다고 알려져 있으나, 콜버그 이론의 한계를 극복하기 위해 신콜버그 학파가 제시한 거시도덕과 미시도덕의 구분, 스키마, 연성단계 개념을 피아제 이 론에서 찾아볼 수 있기 때문이다. 연구자는 신콜버그 학파가 제시한 이상의 이론적 개념들이 피아제 이론에서 중 요하게 다뤄진 내용들임을 논증하고 이러한 현상이 가진 의미를 논하였다. 끝으로, 피아제 이론이 현대 도덕심리 학에서 여전히 유용한 가치를 가지고 있음을 주장하고, 그 예로서 피아제의 도덕발달이론의 핵심 개념인 가역성에 대한 경험과학적 연구의 필요성을 제언하였다.
