[Purpose] This study aims to analyze the influence of green country image (GCI) and cultural openness (COP) on the settlement intention (STI) of Chinese international students in Korea, in response to the growing need to attract and retain talented foreign students amidst the declining school-age population and overall demographic challenges in Korea. Specifically, this research investigates the moderating role of COP in the relationship between GCI and STI. [Methodology] To test the research hypotheses, an online survey was conducted on Chinese international students enrolled in Korean universities about three months, starting from April 2024. A total of 326 valid responses were collected and analyzed using SPSS 28.0, employing various statistical techniques such as frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis with interaction terms. [Findings] The results revealed that among the sub-dimensions of technologicla GCI (TGCI), leadership GCI (LGCI), and people GCI (PGCI) positively influenced the settlement intention of Chinese students. Additionally, COP not only demonstrated a direct positive impact on settlement intention but also moderated the relationship between TGCI, LGCI, PGCI, and STI, strengthening the positive association. [Implications] This study suggests that enhancing GCI and promoting COP play a crucial role in increasing the STI of Chinese international students. Based on these findings, educational authorities and universities should strive to strengthen Korea's educational competitiveness in advanced technology fields, promote its international role, foster an inclusive social atmosphere for foreign students, and enhance multicultural openness to attract and retain talented foreign individuals.

[연구목적] 본 연구는 한국의 학령인구 및 인구 감소 문제에 대응하기 위해 우수 외국인 유학생 유치 및 정착의 필요성이 강조되는 현 상황에서, 그린국가이미지와 문화개방성이 중국인 유학생의 정주의도에 미치는 영향을 실증분석하여 연구결과의 전략적 활용 방안을 제시하고자 한다. [연구방법] 본 연구는 연구가설 검증을 위해, 2024년 4월부터 약 3개월간 국내 대학에 재학 중인 중국인 유학생을 대상으로 온라인 설문조사를 실시하여, 총 326부의 유효한 데이터를 확보하였다. 수집된 데이터는 SPSS 28.0을 활용하여 빈도 분석, 탐색적 요인 분석, 상관관계 분석, 다중회귀 분석 등을 통해 분석하였다. [연구결과] 분석 결과, 그린국가이미지의 하위 차원 중 기술, 리더십, 국민 관련 그린국가이미지가 정주의도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 문화개방성은 정주의도에 직접적인 긍정적 영향을 미칠 뿐 아니라, 기술, 리더십, 국민 관련 그린국가이미지와 정주의도 간의 관계를 강화하는 조절효과를 보이 는 것으로 확인되었다. [연구의 시사점] 본 연구는 한국의 그린국가이미지 제고 및 문화개방성 확대가 중국인 유학생의 정주의도 를 높이는 데 중요한 역할을 한다는 점을 시사한다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로, 교육 당국과 대학은 우리나라 의 첨단기술 분야 교육 경쟁력 강화와 국제적 역할에 대한 홍보, 외국인 유학생에 대한 포용적 사회 분위기 조성, 다문화 개방성 증진 등을 통해 우수한 외국 인재 유치 및 정착을 위한 다양한 노력을 기울여야 할 것이다.
