Technological advances and innovations brought about by the Fourth Industrial Revolution are intensifying competition in the pharmaceutical industry and creating an environment in which new companies can emerge. According to the research results, first, there was a positive relationship between R&D expenses and corporate value of pharmaceutical bio companies. This means that R&D investment can increase corporate value by creating more market share and profitability by promoting product and technology innovation and improving core competitiveness. Second, it was found that there was no relationship between the number of patent registrations and corporate value of pharmaceutical bio companies. The implications of this study's results can be expressed in two ways. First, it is significant in that it was the first to analyze the effect of R&D expenses and the number of patent registrations on corporate value for pharmaceutical bio companies. This is expected to help analyze the effects of innovation investments by pharmaceutical bio companies. Second, it is expected to help stakeholders and investors of pharmaceutical bio companies understand the impact of patent rights and R&D expenses on corporate value.

4차 산업혁명이 가져온 기술 발전과 혁신은 제약 산업의 경쟁을 심화시키고, 새로운 기업들이 등장할 수 있는 환경을 조성하고 있다. 기업의 혁신 수준 향상은 미래 성장 기회를 확대할 뿐만 아니라 기업가치에도 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 따라서 연구 개발비와 특허 등록 개수와 같은 혁신 수준을 나타내는 변수들이 기업가치에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 실증적으로 분석하는 것은 제약 바이오기업의 혁신 전략 선택과 미래 경쟁력 강화에 중요한 역할을 할 것이다. 이에 제약 바이오기업의 특허와 연구개발비가 기업가치에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석함으로써 제약 바이오기업의 혁신전략 선택과 미래 경쟁력을 제고할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 본 연구는 제약 바이오기업을 대상으로 연구개발비와 특허 등록 개수가 기업가치에 미치는 영향을 중점적으로 분석했다는 점에서 의의가 있는데, 이는 제약 바이오기업의 혁신 투자 효과를 분석하는 데 도움을 줄 것으로 예상된다. 또한, 제약 바이오기업의 이해관계자와 투자자에게 특허권과 연구개발비가 기업가치에 미치는 영향을 파악하는 데 도움을 줄 것으로 기대된다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 제약 바이오기업의 연구개발비와 기업가치 간에는 양의 관련성이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 연구개발비 투자가 제품과 기술의 혁신을 촉진하고 핵심 경쟁력을 향상해 더 많은 시장 점유율과 수익성을 창출하여 기업가치를 높일 수 있다는 것을 의미한다. 둘째, 제약 바이오기업의 특허 등록 개수와 기업가치 간에는 관련성이 없는 것으로 나타났다.
