Local bookstores are closing and disappearing. Local bookstore is not just performed only the role of the bookstore that sells only books. Local bookstore was a important point of local culture. Without local bookstores, local cultural hubs would disappear. This is because a large portion of local culture and art was spread through local bookstores.Accordingly, various local governments are attempting to protect local bookstores by enacting various ordinances to save them. Nevertheless, the environment faced by local bookstores is very difficult, so it seems that there is actually a limit for local bookstores to survive. This study explained again the areas of activities of complex cultural spaces, education and creation spaces, and human network spaces, which are directions for improvement of local bookstores already revealed in previous studies. In addition, customers using bookstores were asked whether they knew about the areas of activities of complex cultural spaces, education and creation spaces, and human network spaces of local bookstores. According to the response results, it was confirmed that customers' perception of the direction in which local bookstores should go was very low. This is because the activities of local bookstores are currently weak. If local bookstores are currently doing such activities, it is presumed that the reason for this result is insufficient publicity. Although this study only conducted a simple perception survey, future studies need to investigate causal relationships and suggest more specific strategies.

지역서점이 폐점되어 사라지고 있다. 지역서점은 단지 책만을 파는 서점의 역할만 수행한 것이 아니다. 지역서점은 지역문화의 거점이었다. 지역서점이 없어지면 지역문화의 거점이 사라지는 것이다. 이는 지역의 문화예술은 상당한 부분이 지역서점을 통해 확산되었기 때문이다. 이에 여러 지방자치단체에서는 지역서점을 살 리기 위해 각종 조례를 제정하며 지역서점을 보호하려는 노력을 시도하고 있다. 그런데도 지역서점이 봉착한 환경이 매우 어려워 지역서점이 버티기에는 사실상 한 계가 있는 것처럼 보인다. 본 연구는 선행 연구에서 이미 밝힌 지역서점의 개선 방향인 복합문화공간, 교육·창작공간, 인적네트워크공간의 활동 영역에 대해서 재차 설명하였다. 또한 서점을 이용하는 이용객을 대상으로 지역서점의 복합문화공간, 교육·창작공간, 인적네트워크공간의 활동 영역에 대해서 알고 있는지를 질문하였 다. 응답 결과를 보면 지역서점이 가야 할 방향에 대한 이용객의 인식은 매우 낮은 것으로 확인되었다. 이는 현재 지역서점의 활동이 미약한 측면이 있다. 만약 현재 지역서점이 그와 같은 활동을 하고 있다면 이와 같은 결과의 이유에는 미흡한 홍보일 것으로 추정된다. 본 연구는 간단한 인식 조사만을 했지만 향후 연구에서는 인 과관계를 조사해 보다 구체적인 전략을 제시할 필요가 있다.
