This study analyzes the concepts of “forehead” and “nationra” in Ma Jong Ki's poetry through three layers of embodied cognition: phenomenology, cognitive unconscious, and neural embodiment. Specifically, it presents a concrete model of cognitive humanities criticism by examining how “forehead” and “nationra” are metaphorically equated. Ma Jong Ki, a diaspora poet, perceives himself as a perpetual migrant in the nostalgia towards his homeland, viewing life as a series of wandering. To understand his poetry stemming from his multilayered experiences of time, borders, cultures, and societies, one must examine how his body and mind are configured in interaction with the environment. Ultimately, a multidimensional framework for analyzing how reality is perceived, represented, and cognized within his poetry is necessary. Humanities intersect with cognitive science to understand human cognition, mind, behavior, and culture, forming the interdisciplinary field of cognitive humanities. Embodied cognition theory, viewing the body-mind-environment as a unified entity, is useful for understanding the ever-changing human mind in interaction with the body and external environment.

이 연구는 마종기 시에 나타난 ‘이마’와 ‘나라’를 현상학, 인지적 무의식, 신경적 체화 등 체화된 인지(Embodied Cognition)의 3가지 층위에서 분석하였다. 특히 ‘이마’와 ‘나 라’가 비유 안에서 어떻게 동일시되는가를 인지 인문학(Cognitive Humanities) 비평의 구체적 모형으로 제시하였다. 마종기는 디아스포라 시인이며 고국을 향한 노스텔지어 속에서 자신이 끝없는 이주민이라는 자각을 한 주체이다. 시대와 국경과 문화와 사회 의 경계인에 해당하는 그의 다층적인 경험에서 나온 시를 이해하기 위해서는 언어 차 원뿐만 아니라 문화영역, 생물학적, 현상학적 단계까지 염두에 두고 그의 몸과 마음이 환경과의 상호작용 속에서 어떻게 구성되는지를 살펴야 한다. 궁극적으로 그의 시문학 세계를 깊이 있게 이해하고 그의 시어가 내포하는 심층에 닿기 위한 리터러시 차원에 서 그가 당면한 현실이 그에게 어떻게 지각되고 표상되고 인지되는가에 대한 다원적 분석의 틀이 필요하다. 인문학은 인간의 인지, 마음, 행동, 문화 등을 이해하기 위해 인 지과학적 이론과 만나야 하는데, 이렇게 융합된 학문이 인지 인문학이다. 체화된 인지 는 인간의 몸-마음-환경을 하나의 단위체로 보면서 몸과 신체 내부와 외부 환경의 상호 작용에 따라 순간순간 변화하는 인간의 마음을 이해하는데 유용한 이론이다.
