In this study, a comparative analysis of representative works of Chinese and Western painting was conducted based on the history, cultural background, and aesthetic idea of Chinese painting and Western painting art to clarify the difference between the aesthetic characteristics of Chinese painting and Western painting. As a result of the study, Chinese painting emphasized the aesthetic pursuit of freehand brushwork and artistic conception, and admired the expression of good that the spatial composition and pen ink converge with each other cavalier perspective, while Western painting emphasizes realistic reproduction of captured objects, emphasizes reason and science, emphasizes visual facts and detailed angularization along with creating a three-dimensional space, and pursues an aesthetic boundary between naturalism and scientific truth. In addition, although there are some areas where Chinese and Western painting contrast in concrete expression, they also found that both reveal human aesthetic consciousness and ability. These findings are expected to serve as theoretical basis for convergence research and comparative research between Chinese and Western painting.

본 연구에서는 중국화와 서양화 심미적 특징의 차이를 규명하는 것을 목적으로 중국화와 서 양화 예술의 역사와 문화적 배경 및 심미학 관념상의 근원을 바탕으로 중국화와 서양화의 대표적인 작품의 비교 분석을 하였다. 연구결과, 중국화는 ‘사의(写意)’와 ‘의경(意境)’이라는 심미학적 추 구를 중시하고 분산투시를 통한 공간구도와 필묵이 서로 융합하는 선의 표현과 허와 실이 상생하는 이미지를 표현하는 것을 숭상하는 한편, 서양화는 포착된 대상물을 사실적으로 재현하는 것을 보다 중시하며, 이성과 과학성을 강조하며, 투시규칙과 색깔 및 빛을 사용한 기법을 운용하여 입체공간감 을 창조와 함께 시각적인 사실과 세밀한 각화를 중시하고, 자연주의와 과학적 진리의 심미학적 경계 를 추구한다는 것을 규명하였다. 아울러 중국과 서양화가 구체적인 표현에 있어 대비를 이루는 부분 도 있지만, 양자 모두 인류의 심미학 의식과 능력을 드러낸다는 공통점도 발견하였다. 이러한 연구 결과는 중국화와 서양화의 융합연구, 비교연구의 이론적 기초자료가 될 것으로 사료된다.
