The analyzed concentration of suspended sediments in the bottom layer during winter season increased higher than bottom layer during summer season in the marine national parks of Korea. This explains poor correlation between sediment concentration and attenuation coefficient during summer season (r2=0.74) and much high degree of correlation during winter season (r2=0.92). Relatively fine-sized and well-defined, monotonous size distribution may promote the correlation between concentration and attenuation coefficient due to optical homogeneity of particles during winter season. During summer season, the values showed remarkable decrease in mean size which seemed to be associated more with deflocculation. During winter season, the grain size of suspended particles showed characteristic development of floc-sized particles. This finding suggests that tidal currents enhance resuspension and sedimentation near the sea floor.

한국의 해양국립공원 동계 저층에서 분석한 부유퇴적물 농도는 하계보다는 농도가 증가하였다. 부유퇴적물 농도와 광 감쇠계수의 사이 의 상관관계는 하계(r2=0.74)보다 동계(r2=0.92)에 더 양호한 것으로 분석되었다. 상대적으로 세립하고 단조로운 부유퇴적물 입자들은 광학 적인 특성이 균질하기 때문에 부유퇴적물 농도와 광감쇠계수 사이의 더 높은 상관성을 보였다. 하계에 부유퇴적물의 평균입도가 현저하게 감 소한 것은 입자의 느슨해짐(deflocculation)에 의한 것으로 판단된다. 동계에 저층 부유퇴적물의 입자는 응집(flocculation)이 발달하며 이는 해저 근처에서 부유퇴적물의 재이동과 퇴적에 의한 것으로 해석되었다.
