Entrepreneurs who have already experienced failure have solved various problems by starting a business and experiencing failure. In the process, they have accumulated various trials and errors, accumulated information and knowledge, and have their know-how, so when they start a new business, the success rate is high. Accordingly, the purpose of this study was to focus on companies that were re-started after failure and analyze the factors that affect the success of re-started companies. Specifically, we examined the impact of the extent and speed of government funding on the survival period of re-started companies, as well as how the experience of startup failure before re-starting moderates the influence of these mechanisms. As a result, the speed of government funding had a positive effect on the survival period of re-started companies. The longer the period from re-starting to government support, the longer the survival period of re-started companies. This can be seen as meaning that it is more useful to receive funding from the government after re-starting a business and gaining more experience in business. Meanwhile, the experience of startup failure (learning through failure) showed a moderating effect that made this relationship stronger. The longer the period of previous startup failure experience (i.e., the longer the learning period through failure), the longer the survival time of the re-started company was further strengthened.

최근 코로나19의 여파로 다수의 창업 기업들이 소멸되고 있음에도, 정부에서는 우리경제 성장을 뒷받침하기 위하여 창업지원 사업이 성과를 내도록 꾸준히 제도를 개편하고 있는 실정이다. 그러나 관련 연구들은 대부분 창업 ‘성공’에 주로 집중하여 연구를진행하고 있으며, 창업 ‘실패’의 유용성에 관련된 연구는 찾아보기 쉽지 않다. 실제 이미실패 경험을 가지고 있는 창업자들은 창업과 실패를 겪으며 직접 다양한 문제들을 해결하였기에 그 과정에서 다양한 시행착오를 적립, 정보와 지식을 쌓아 자신만의 노하우를가지게 되어 재창업 할 경우 성공률이 높은 편이다. 이에 본 연구는 실패 이후 재창업한 기업에 집중하여 재창업 기업의 성공에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 분석하는 것을 그목적으로 하였다. 구체적으로, 정부 자금 지원의 규모나 속도가 재창업 기업의 생존기간에 미치는 영향과 함께 재창업 이전의 창업 실패 경험이 이러한 메커니즘에서 어떠한영향력을 조절하는지를 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 정부 자금 지원의 속도가 재창업 기업의 생존기간에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤는데, 재창업 후 정부 지원까지의 기간이 길면 길수록 재창업 기업의 생존기간 역시 길어졌다. 이는 재창업 이후 비지니스에 대한 경험이 좀 더 쌓인 뒤에 정부로부터 자금을지원받는 것이 더욱 유용함을 의미하는 것이라 볼 수 있다. 한편, 창업 실패 경험(실패를 통한 학습)이 이러한 관계를 더욱 강력하게 해주는 조절효과를 보였는데, 이전 창업실패 경험의 기간이 길수록(즉, 실패를 통한 학습 기간이 길수록) 재창업 기업의 생존기간을 더욱 강화시켰다.
