This study investigates the effects of communication ability and interpersonal anxiety on self-esteem before the first clinical practice in nursing students. A survey was administered to third-year nursing students who had yet to begin their clinical practice from May 15 to May 20, 2023. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation, multiple regression with the SPSS/WIN26.0 program..The results showed that self-esteem is positively correlated with communication ability(r=.564) and negatively correlated with interpersonal anxiety(r=-.590) and there was a negative correlation between communication skills and interpersonal anxiety(r=-.515). The impact on self-esteem was in the order of interpersonal anxiety (β=-.41) and communication ability(β=.35). In conclusion, the research results showed that the higher the communication ability and the lower the interpersonal anxiety, the more it affects self-esteem. Thus, it is important to develop and implement tailored programs that enhance communication skills and facilitate interpersonal interactions while reducing anxiety for nursing students at different school years and stages.

연구의 목적은 간호대학생의 첫 임상실습 전 의사소통능력과 대인관계 불안이 자아존중감에 미치는 영향을 파악하 고자 시도되었다. 연구는 첫 임상실습 전 3학년을 대상으로 2023년 5월 15일부터 20일까지 설문조사하였다. 자료는 SPSS/WIN 26.0 프로그램을 이용하여 기술통계,t-test, ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation cofficient, Multiple regression 으로 분석하였다. 연구결과 자아존중감은 의사소통능력과 정적 상관관계(r=.564, p<.001), 대인관계 불안과 부적 상관관계 (r=-.590, p<.001)로 나타났으며 의사소통능력과 대인관계 불안도 부적 상관관계(r=-.515, p<.001)로 나타났다. 자아존중감 에 미치는 영향은 대인관계 불안(β=-.41). 의사소통능력(β=.35)순으로 나타났다. 결론적으로 의사소통능력이 높고 대인관계 불안이 낮을수록 자아존중감에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 향후 학년별, 단계별 의사소통 역량 강화와 대인관계를 넓히고 불안을 감소시킬 수 있는 개인적 특성을 고려한 프로그램 개발과 이를 교육과정에 적용하는 것이 중요할 것으로 생각 된다.
