This study aimed to confirm the effects of individual factors and extracurricular activity program on college freshman dropout. The study was conducted on 2,300 freshmen in 2021 at K College in D Metropolitan City. As a result of this study, the explanatory power of the regression equation on dropout of the subject's gender, age, and extracurricular activity program on dropout is Homer & Lemeshow 55.2% (χ2 =270.58, p<.001). There was an increase in dropouts for male students compared to female students. With age, dropouts increased. And, the completion of the comparative extracurricular activity program in the areas of personality and culture, department and school adaptation, career exploration, self-directed learning, and major competency enhancement was significantly lower than the incompletion. The results of this study will help prepare measures to reduce dropouts that reflect the personal characteristics of freshmen and the impact of extracurricular activity program on dropouts.

본 연구는 지방 전문대학 신입생의 일반적 특성과 영역별 비교과 프로그램 수료가 중도탈락에 미치는 영 향에 대한 회귀식을 규명하기 위한 서술적 조사연구이다. D 광역시 K 전문대학 2021학년도 신입생 2300명을 대상 으로 학적 자료를 기반으로 일반적 특성, 중도탈락 및 영역별 비교과 수료여부를 조사하였다. 본 연구의 결과, 대상 자의 성별, 연령 및 영역별 비교과 프로그램 수료가 중도탈락에 미치는 회귀식의 설명력은 Homer & Lemeshow 55.2%(χ2=270.58, p<.001)였다. 남학생이 여학생에 비하여, 연령이 증가될수록 중도탈락이 높았다. 또한, 인성 및 문화 영역, 학과 및 학교 적응 영역, 진로탐색 영역, 자기주도학습 영역 및 전공역량 강화 영역의 비교과 프로그램 수료가 미수료보다 중도탈락이 유의하게 낮게 나타났다. 본 연구 결과는 개인적 특성과 영역별 비교과 프로그램이 중도탈락에 미치는 영향을 반영하여 전문대학 신입생의 중도탈락 감소 방안 마련에 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이다.
