To simplify the application of biochar powder for in situ stabilization of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and phthalates (PAEs) in sediments, biochar pellets using Na-OH rice husk biochar were prepared. In this study, bentonite, Al2O3, CaO and MgO were selected as binders of biochar pellets. CaO pellets showed the highest compressive strength among all pellets, and also exhibited the highest moisture uptake. Over 90 % of biochars pellets disintegrated after one month. Different pellets contact times were amended to sediments to reduce the remain of PAHs and PAEs in sediment. Compared with raw biochar, biochar pellets had 20 % lower stabilization efficiency of PAHs and PAEs.
