The Relationship between Childhood Emotional Abuse and College Students’ Anxiety - The Dual Mediating Effect of Difficulty in Describing Feeling and Self-destructive Behavior -
The purpose of this study was to examine the dual mediating effect of difficulty in describing feeling and self-destructive behavior in the relationship between childhood emotional abuse and college students’ anxiety. The subjects were 296 college students. A correlation analysis was conducted to examine the relationship between measurement variables using SPSS 24.0. The dual mediating effect of difficulty in describing feeling and self-destructive behavior was identified using PROCESS macro 3.5 Model 6. The results were as follows: First, the direct effect of emotional abuse on college student’s anxiety was not significant. Second, difficulty in describing feeling and self-destructive behavior showed significant dual mediating effect in the relationship between emotional abuse and anxiety. These results indicate that interventions for emotional abuse, difficulty in describing feeling and self-destructive behavior are needed for college students suffering from anxiety due to childhood emotional abuse.
