A study on the expression method for delivery of the thematic consciousness in the comedy film This paper analyzes the expression method that how comedy genre delivers a critical message from a feminist perspective. Narrative theory found by Seymour Chatman is used as a theoretical framework for explanation. Comedy is a genre that can overthrow the system while lightly dealing with political or critical issues. Since 2010 the fourth wave feminism began, Hollywood has produced films with a feminist perspective. is also a film that reflects the current reality, it contains a feminist perspective and critical messages about discrimination against appearance, prejudice against women’s relationships, and patriarchal hierarchy. These messages are delivered in various ways through production of cinematic expressions; setting up a character, highlighting events, deletion, addition, dialogue, narration. This kind of expressions is exaggerated or narratively unnecessary, and contents that may be offensive are included, however, effectively delivers the intended message while containing the contents in a comical way and leveraging the merits of the comic genre.

본 논문은 코미디 장르인 <어쩌다 로맨스>에서 페미니즘적인 메시지를 어떻게 전달하는지에 대한 표현방법을 분석한다. 이를 설명하기 위하여 시모어 채트먼 의 서사이론을 분석틀로 활용한다. 코미디는 정치적이거나 비판적인 이슈들을 가볍게 다루면서도 체제의 전복을 시도할 수 있는 장르이다. <어쩌다 로맨스>도 코 미디 장르로 부담 없이 볼 수 있지만 그 안에는 외모차별, 여성간의 관계에 대한 편견, 가부장적인 위계질서 등에 대한 페미니즘과 관련된 진중한 메시지를 담는다. 2010년 이후로 제4물결 페미니즘 운동이 시작되면서 할리우드는 페미니즘적인 관점을 가진 영화들을 다수 제작해왔다. <어쩌다 로맨스>도 이러한 시대적 상황을 반영한 영화로 인물설정, 사건의 강조, 생략, 첨가 그리고 대사 등 여러 방법으로 페미니즘에 대한 관점들이 전달된다. 이와 같은 표현방법은 과장되거나 서사적으 로 불필요한 부분들도 있고, 다소 불편할 수 있는 내용이 대사로 언급되기도 하지만 <어쩌다 로맨스>는 코미디라는 장르의 이점을 활용하여 이와 같은 내용들을 코 믹하게 소화시키면서 의도한 메시지들을 효과적으로 전달한다.
