This study focuses on the potential for creating spatial and atmospheric effects in small theaters using mobile stage equipment, without being constrained by physical space or theater facilities, for mega musical productions. With the continuous growth of mega musicals in the domestic market, the study analyzes the distribution and sales of musical works in Korea and proposes methods for creating spatial effects in university musical education to facilitate the production of mega musicals in small theaters. The mobile stage equipment is designed based on the principle of the periaktoi, a stage mechanism used in ancient Greek theater and the characteristics of mobile stage equipment used in musicals such as and . The mobile stage equipment is a four-sided column-shaped device, which is applied to the musical to derive the potential for creating spatial effects, representing the inner state of characters, and forming the mood of the drama. The study is expected to provide opportunities for performing mega musical productions in university musical education and to contribute to the development of the musical industry and education. The utilization of mobile stage equipment demonstrates the possibility of producing mega musical productions in small theaters.

본 연구는 대규모 뮤지컬 작품에서 필요로 하는 물리적 공간성과 극장 시설의 제약 없이 소극장에서 이동형 무대장치를 적용하여 공간성 창출 가능성을 중심으로 진행되었다. 국내 뮤지컬 시장에서는 대규모 뮤지컬의 성장세가 지속되고 있고, 이러한 배경을 바탕으로 본 연구에서는 이동형 무대장치를 기획하고 설계하여 대규모 뮤지컬 작품의 실습을 통해 소극장에서의 대규모 뮤지컬 작품을 공연 가능성을 분석하였다. 이를 위해 국내 뮤지컬 시장의 작품 분 포를 분석하고, 대학 뮤지컬 교육에서 대규모 뮤지컬 작품 진출을 위한 환경 조성을 위해 공간성 창출 방법을 제시하 였다. 이동형 무대장치는 고대 연극의 무대장치인 페리아크토이의 원리를 중심으로 옥외광고에 활용되는 페리아크토 이의 정보전달의 특성과 뮤지컬 <노트르담 드 파리>의 이동형 기둥, 뮤지컬 <빨래>의 이동형 무대장치의 특성을 바 탕으로 4면으로 구성된 기둥 형태의 이동형 무대장치로 제작되었으며, 이를 뮤지컬 <레미제라블>에 적용하여 공간형 성과 인물의 내면 상태, 극의 분위기 형성을 위한 적용 가능성을 도출하였다. 본 연구는 대학 뮤지컬 교육에서 대규 모 뮤지컬 작품의 공연 기회를 제공하는 것이 뮤지컬 산업과 교육의 발전을 위한 기반이 될 것으로 기대하며, 이동형 무대장치의 활용을 통해 소극장에서의 대규모 뮤지컬 작품을 공연의 적용 가능성을 제시하였다.
