The Relationship between Allergies and Fruit and Vegetable Intake in Korean Adults : Based on the 2016∼2018 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey Data

This study aimed to determine the relationship between allergies and fruit and vegetable intake. This study included 13,280 participants aged ≥ 20 years from the 7th KNHANES. Participants were classified into two groups(non-allergic disease group (NADG) and allergic disease group (ADG)). Demographically, ages were lower in the ADG(p<0.001), but the proportions of women(p<0.001), urban (p<0.05) and apartment living(p<0.01), unmarried status(p<0.001), education(p<0.001), and household income(p<0.05) were higher than those in the NADG. Health-related factors, such as monthly drinking rate(p<0.05), mental stress(p<0.001), and walking(p<0.01) were higher in the ADG. Conversely, BMI(p<0.01) and waist circumference(p<0.001) were higher in the NADG. Vegetable intake in the ADG was lower than that of NADG(p<0.001). When vegetable intake was increased by 10 g, the odds ratio for the prevalence of allergies was reduced by 0.994(p<0.01).

본 연구는 2016∼2018 국민건강영양조사 기준 만 20세 이상 13,280명을 대상으로 하였다. 그리고 알레르 기 상태에 따라 비알레르기 질환군(NADG)과 알레르기 질환군(ADG)의 두 그룹으로 분류하였다. 인구통계학적으 로는 ADG(p<0.001)에서 연령이 더 낮았으나 여성(p<0.001), 도시(p<0.05) 및 아파트 거주(p<0.01), 미혼상태 (p<0.001), 교육(p<0.001), 가계소득(p<0.05)에서는 NADG 보다 더 높았다. 월간음주율(p<0.05), 정신적 스트레스 (p<0.001), 걷기(p<0.01)와 같은 건강관련 요인은 ADG에서 더 높았다. 과일 섭취량은 두 그룹 간에 유의한 차이 가 없었으나 채소 섭취량은 ADG에서 NADG보다 더 낮았다(p<0.001). 또한 채소 섭취량을 10g 늘릴 때 알레르 기 유병률의 교차비는 0.994 감소하였다(p<0.01). 본 연구 결과는 성인 알레르기의 영양관리를 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있다.
