Along with the trend of digital transformation, data, which is the basis of future technologies such as autonomous driving and artificial intelligence, is an important factor in improving the competitiveness of private enterprises such as developing new business areas and improving existing work efficiency. Accordingly, governments are implementing various policies to carry out data-based administration and create economic value in the private sector by utilizing high-value public data. Private enterprises are also striving to create value that has not existed before. Previous studies have attempted to propose policy directions related to public data at a strategic level or to study activation plans using metadata from public data portals. However, empirical studies on companies using public data are very limited. This study attempts to analyze the relationship between public data utilization, and business performance by attempting an exploratory analysis on the factors affecting the public data utilization of companies. While empirical research on the use of public data in Korea is limited, this paper is meaningful in that it suggests the importance of using public data to improve corporate performance and policy implications for improving the utilization of public data.
