This study analyzed and examined how Korean-residents-in-Japan and their descendants, who have lived in Japan for more than 110 years since Japanese colonial era, have changed their social co-existence in Japan by the period, from the perspective of Korean-residents-in-Japan and Japanese. According to the results of the study by the periods, from the perspective of Korean residents in Japan, it was found that they are changing into the member of Japanese society through ‘the second-class citizen under Japanese colonial era’, ‘the struggle for minimum national identity’, ‘the struggle for basic human rights’, and ‘the struggle for life as a general resident’. On the other hand, from a Japanese perspective, Koreanresidents- in-Japan had a favorable perception during the Japanese colonial era, but since then, the negative image has been strong, and since the mid-1980s, there was a change to a positive image. In other words, it could be considered that in Japanese society, both Korean-residents-in-Japan and Japanese are changing with the times and new social environment, and at the same time, their view of values toward each other are changing according to the times.

본 연구는 일제강점기이후 110년 이상을 일본에 정주하여 생활하고 있는 재일 코리안과 그 후손들이 시기별로 일본사회와 재일코리안과의 공생사회가 어떻게 변화해 왔는지, 재일코리안 관점과 일본인 관점에서 분석 고찰하였다. 연구 결과를 시기별로 보면 재일코리안 관점에서는 ‘일제강점기의 약자’, ‘최소 한의 민족정체성을 위한 투쟁’, ‘기본인권을 얻기 위한 투쟁’, ‘일반주민으로서의 삶을 위한 투쟁’을 거치면서 일본사회의 일원으로 변화하고 있는 것으로 나타났 다. 한편, 일본인 관점에서는 일제강점기 속에서 재일코리안의 인식은 호의적이 였으나, 그 이후는 부정적인 이미지가 강했고, 1980년대 중반부터 긍정의 이미지 로 변화하기 시작하였다. 즉, 일본사회에서 재일코리안도 일본인도 시대흐름과 사회환경이 변함과 동시 에 서로에 대한 가치관도 시대 상황에 맞춰서 변화하고 있다는 것을 고찰할 수 있 었다.
