The purpose of this study is to name Korea and Korean-related words registered in the Oxford Dictionary (OED) in 2021 as ‘K-words’ and to analyze them. Since the 2010s, Korean culture has shown global influence and spread through K-pop and K-drama. Through Korean cultural contents, people become interested in the Korean language, and reading Korean culture from Korean vocabulary has become a global phenomenon. Specifically, this study examines the 26 K-word parts of speech and original language updated in the OED in September 2021. After that, K-word related vocabulary in Korean dictionary is compared with K-word of OED and the cultural category of K-word is analyzed by referring to the cultural items of Hammerly (1986). This study can contribute to fostering global literacy by understanding Korean cultural vocabulary from the perspective of identity and intercultural exchange.

본 연구는 2021년 옥스퍼드사전(OED)에 등재된 한국, 한국어와 관련한 단어들을 ‘K-word’로 명명하고 이들을 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 2010년대 이후 한국 문화는 K-pop, K-drama 등으로 전 세계적인 영향력 과 확산력을 보여주고 있다. 한국의 문화콘텐츠들을 통해 한국어에 흥미를 갖게 되며 한국어 어휘들에서 한국 문 화를 읽어내는 것이 전 세계적인 현상이 되었다. 이에 구체적으로 이 연구는 2021년 9월 OED에 업데이트된 26개 의 K-word의 품사, 원어 등을 살핀다. 이후 한국어사전에서의 K-word 관련 어휘들을 OED의 K-word와 비교하 고 K-word의 문화 범주를 Hammerly(1986)의 문화 항목을 참고하여 분석한다. 이러한 연구로 한국 문화 어휘를 정체성과 상호문화교류의 관점에서 파악하여 글로벌 리터러시 함양에 기여할 수 있다.

Along with scholars and colleagues in related fields, they have gathered in avariety of forums and meetings over the last few decades to share their knowledge, experiences and the outcome of their research. These exchanges have led to the founding of the International Next-generation Convergence technology (INCA) on December 1, 2015. INCA was registered as an incorporated association under the Ministry of Information and Communications. The main purpose of the organization is to improve our society by achieving the highest capability possible in next generation convergence technology.
