This study investigated the difference in the odds of depression among diabetic categories in the general population. In this study, data were collected from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey of 2016, and 5,374 (2,327 males, 3,047 females) adults were included in the study sample. We investigated the adjusted association between depression, which was measured by PHQ-9, and diabetes categories. The results were noted that showed significant associations of impaired fasting glucose (OR 1.90, 95% CI 1.07-3.37) and diabetes (OR 2.84, 95% CI 1.69-4.75) in aged (≥65 yrs.), and diabetes (OR 1.97, 95% CI 1.07–3.64) in middle aged (45∼64 yrs.) with depression adjusted for sex, education level and quartiles of household income, BMI, HbA1c, and hypertension. Diabetes in middle-aged and elderly adults, IFG in elderly adults significantly increased the risk of depression.

본 연구는 한국 성인의 연령대별, 당뇨병 단계별로 우울과의 관련성을 규명하기 위하여 제 7기 1차년도(2016년) 국민건강영양조사자료(The Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, KNHANES)를 활용하여 수행한 이차분석연구이다. 본 연구는 만 19세 이상의 한국 성인 총 5,374명의 데이터를 분석했다. 자료분석에는 기술통 계, Bonferroni 사후, 다중 로지스틱 회귀분석방법이 사용되었다. 임상적, 신계 계측 및 관련요인을 혼란변수로 통제한 결과 연령대별, 당뇨병 단계별 우울 간의 관련성을 조사결과 노년기(65세 이상)에서는 공복혈당장애군(OR 1.90, 95% CI 1.07-3.37)과 당뇨병군(OR 2.84, 95% CI 1.69-4.75)에서 우울과 유의한 관련성이 있는 것으로 나타났고, 중년기(45 ∼64세)에서는 당뇨병군(OR 1.97, 95% CI 1.07–3.64)에서만 우울과 유의한 관련성이 있는 것으로 나타났다.
