Purpose : In light of the growing importance of green industry, this study aims to analyze export competitiveness of Korean environmental goods in the global market. Based on 54 environmental goods list proposed by APEC, this paper examined the trade structure of environmental goods during the past 10 years from 2010 to 2019. Research design, data, methodology : This study used the international market share(IMS), trade specialization index(TSI) and revealed comparative advantage index(RCA) for environmental goods in the global market. The underlying dataset was extracted from the UN COMTRADE database and comprises 54 Harmonised System codes. Results : As a result of using the export bias index analysis method of Korean environmental goods, the internal combustion engine characteristic tester (HS 9031.80), semiconductor devices (HS 8541.40), optical devices (HS 9013.80), machinery (HS 8479.89), and 8479 parts (HS 8479.90) are located in export specialization and comparative advantages. Conclusions : This study contributes to preparation for the trade liberalization in the environmental goods by providing empirical result; thus, helping the trajectory toward to the high level of green industry in Korea.

본 연구는 환경산업에 대한 중요도가 증대되는 가운데 세계시장에서 한국 환경상품에 대한 무역구조와 수출경쟁력을 분석하는 데에 목적이 있다. 무역구조 및 수출경쟁력 분석을 위해 세계시장점유율(IMS), 무역특화지수(TSI) 및 현시비교우위지수(RCA)를 종합적으로 활용하였 다. 환경상품의 범위는 6개 품목군과 HS 코드 6단위 기준 54개의 세부품목을 선정하였고, 2010 년부터 2019년 동안의 UN comtrade의 무역통계자료를 수집하여 연구를 진행하였다. 먼저 한국 환경상품의 세계시장점유율(IMS)은 2010년 9.57%에서 2019년 4.85%로 지속적인 하락세를 보 였다. 다음으로 한국 환경상품에 대한 무역특화지수(TSI)를 분석한 결과, 54개 세부품목 중에 서 26개 품목이 수출특화로, 27개 품목이 수입특화로 나타났고, 현시비교우위지수(RCA) 분석 결과, 20개 품목만이 비교우위를 지니고 있는 것으로 드러났다. 그리고 세부품목별 세계시장 점유율(IMS), 무역특화지수(TSI)와 현시비교우위지수(RCA)를 종합적으로 분석한 결과, 기계류 (HS 8479.89), 반도체 디바이스(HS 8541.40)와 내연기관 특성시험기(HS 9031.80)은 가장 높은 수출경쟁력을 보이고 있는 것으로 드러났다. 한국 환경상품의 수출경쟁력을 품목군별/세부품 목별로 측정한 본 연구결과는 향후 환경상품의 무역자유화를 위한 대응과 국내 환경산업 발전 방향을 모색하는 데 도움이 될 것으로 본다.
