Home range and daily activity have been monitored in a water deer (Hydropotes inermis) which lives in farm place near Jangjaeteo of Seoraksan National Park and another water deer which inhabits the forest edge of the mountains in Yanggu Eco-Botanical Garden. The home range of the water deer in Jangjaeteo is 0.176㎢ (Kermel 95%) with core area of 0.039㎢ (Kermel 50%), whereas home rang and core area of the water deer in Yanggu Eco-Botanical Garden is 0.597㎢ (Kernel 95%) and 0.129㎢ (Kernel 50%), respectively. Average area of daily home range of the water deer in Jangjaeteo was 0.041±0.031㎢ and average distance of daily migration range was under 50m and the time when the water deer has shown high activity was 6:00, 12:00, 19:00, and 22:00. The average area of daily home range of water deer in Yanggu Eco-Botanical Garden was 0.134±0.058㎢ and average distance of migration range was higher than 100m. They become active mainly from 13:00 to 17:00 with highest activity at 15:00. Use pattern of home range and daily activity pattern exhibited difference between the water deer which lives in the disturbed habitats in Jangjaeteo and that which inhabits well-conserved habitats in Yanggu Eco-Botanical Garden.

설악산국립공원 장재터 사람 거주지 인근 지역의 농경지에서 서식하는 고라니와 양구생태식물원의 산림 임연부 지역에서 서식하는 고라 니의 행동권와 활동패턴을 조사하였다. 설악산국립공원 장재터에 서식하는 고라니의 행동권은 0.176㎢(Kermel 95%)이며 이중 중심지역은 0.039㎢(Kermel 50%)였다. 서식지가 잘 보전된 양구생태식물원 고라니의 행동권은 0.597㎢(Kernel 95%), 중심지역은 0.129㎢(Kernel 50%)였다. 고라니의 일일 행동권의 평균 면적은 장재터에 서식하는 고라니의 경우 0.041±0.031㎢였으며 평균 이동거리는 50m이하로 활 동이 활발한 시간은 6시, 12시, 19시, 22시였다. 양구생태식물원에 서식하는 고라니의 일일행동권 평균 면적은 0.134±0.058㎢였고, 평균 이동거리는 100m이상으로 15시에 가장 활발한 활동을 나타냈고 13시부터 17시 사이에 활동이 집중되었다. 인위적 교란이 있는 설악산국립공원 장재터에 서식하는 고라니와 서식지가 잘 보전된 양구생태식물원에 서식하고 있는 고라니의 행동권 및 행동 특성은 차이를 나타냈다.
