The purpose of this study was to reveal how Koryein youth adapt to various lives in their ecological system and to suggest active educational support. Therefore, based on in-depth interview data of 5 local community teachers with rich experience in coaching Koryein youth, this study reveals what it is like to live in individual, family, school, society, national, and supernational contexts of Koryein youth, and what problems and issues are inherent in that life. In everyday life, they hang out with their friends in the same situation, but without hope and plan for life, they could not find their presence, so they were caught feeling frustrated and wandering. The unstable lives of parents were reflected and expressed in the lives of their children. In school life, they experienced fear and exclusion, and a two-sided adaptation appeared. Exemplary students drop out of school when they hit their limits. Their adaptation varied according to the interest and support of teachers. Socially, bilingual ability, visa, and career development/employment are essential for them. Although they are excluded from education and welfare services as foreigners, they wanted a work visa or nationality to settle in a familiar Korea. Their appearance similar to Koreans make them feel a sense of identity and connectedness with Korean, but they have lack understanding and awareness of the migration history of Koryein. In their daily lives, they live transnationally, moving back and forth between countries with different languages and cultures. Some youth also want a diploma from a Russian school for better career and job opportunities. However, the legal and institutional boundaries between the two countries, they have no choice but to continue their transnational life as a wandering stranger. Therefore, education and welfare policies were proposed to support the improvement of the environment in their multi-layered ecological system and systematic adaptation and settlement for Koryein youth.

본 연구는 고려인 청소년의 생태체계 속 다양한 삶의 적응 모습을 밝히며 적극적인 지원방안을 제안함에 목적을 두었다. 이에 고려인 중도입국 청소년 지도경험이 풍부한 지역사회 교사 5명의 심층면담 자료를 토대로 고려인 청소년의 개인, 가족, 학교, 사회, 국가, 초국가적 삶의 모습은 어떠한지 그리고 그 삶 속에 내재한 문제와 이슈는 무엇인 가를 밝히고자 하였다. 일상 속에서 이들은 같은 처지의 주변 친구들과 어울리며 지내 지만, 삶의 희망과 계획도 없이 존재감을 찾지 못하여 좌절감을 느끼고 방황하는 모습 들이 포착되었다. 불안정한 부모의 삶이 자녀들의 삶에도 투영되어 표출되었다. 학교 생활에서는 두려움과 배제를 경험하였고 양면적인 적응모습이 나타났다. 모범적인 학 생이 한계에 부딪치며 학교를 탈퇴하고, 교사의 관심과 지원에 따라 이들의 적응모습 도 달라진다. 사회적으로 이들에게는 이중언어 능력, 비자, 진로/취업이 필수적이다. 이들은 외국인으로서 교육과 복지 서비스에서 배제되지만, 익숙한 한국에 정착하고자 노동비자나 국적취득을 원하였다. 또한, 한국인과 유사한 외모로 동질감과 공동체 의 식을 갖지만 고려인 이주역사는 잘 모른다. 이들은 일상의 삶 속에서 언어와 문화가 다 른 양국가를 오고가며 초국가적으로 산다. 더 나은 진로와 취업기회를 위해 러시아학 교 졸업장도 원한다. 양국가의 법과 제도적 경계로 인해 유랑하는 이방인으로서 초국 가적인 삶은 지속할 수 밖에 없다. 이에 고려인 중도입국 청소년을 위한 생태체계 속 문화적 환경개선과 체계적인 적응과 정착을 지원할 교육과 복지 정책을 제안하였다.
