The purpose of this study was to explore how subjective health status impacts on life satisfaction among older people with disability, and examine the mediating effects of depression in the relationship between subjective health status and life satisfaction. We used the second wave (2019) of the Disability and Life Dynamics Panel and restricted the sample to elderly age 65 or older with disability. These criteria resulted in a sample of 996 individuals. We found statistically significant mediating effects of depression in the relationship between subjective health status and life satisfaction. Based on the findings, we suggest that potential policy tools can be implemented to operate a mental health prevention program, to provide health management information and educational programs for healthy aging individuals, and to prepare a support system for primary care for elderly with disabilities.

본 연구의 목적은 장애노인의 주관적 건강상태가 생활만족도에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고, 이들의 관계에서 우울이 미치는 매개효과를 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위해 장애인삶 패널조사 2차년도 자료를 활용하였고, 65세 이상 장애노인 996명의 자료를 대상으로 분석이 이루어졌다. 선행연구 고찰을 통해 장애노인의 주관적 건강상태, 생활 만족도, 우울 사이의 관계를 설명하는 연구모형을 구축하고, 분석을 통해 연구가설의 통계적 유의성을 검증하였다. 분석결과, 장애노인의 주관적 건강상태가 생활만족도에 미치는 영향에서 우울의 매개효과가 유의하게 나타났다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 토대로, 장애노인을 대상으로 한 정신건강 예방 프로그램 운영, 건강한 노화와 건강지원을 위한 건강관리 정보 및 교육 프로그램 제공, 장애인 건강주치의 지원체계 마련 및 제도의 홍보 등을 제언하였다.
