In the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, this study aims to present major trends and prospects related to the artificial intelligence(AI)-based defense industry in preparation for future defense. To this end, major domestic and foreign cases, including the U.S., and the current status of the Ministry of National Defense’s implementation policy, and short-term, medium- and long-term products and services promoted by artificial intelligence(AI) in the defense sector were discovered to distinguish the target projects. Through research related to artificial intelligence(AI) in the defense field, it was possible to seek directions for the development of artificial intelligence(AI)-related policies of the Ministry of National Defense, and to present general restrictions and considerations.

본 연구는 제4차 산업혁명 시대에 있어 미래 국방을 대비한 인공지능(AI) 기반의 방위산업 관련 주요 동향과 전망을 통해 군사능력 및 핵심전력 추진방향을 제시하기 위함이다. 이를 위해, 미국을 비롯한 국내･외 주요 사례와 국방부 추진정책 현황 등을 살펴보고, 국방분야 인공지능(AI) 추진 단기-중기-장기 제품 및 서비스를 발굴하여 대상사업을 구분했다. 국방분야 인공지능(AI) 관련 연구를 통해 국방부의 인공지능(AI) 관련정책 발전을 위한 방향성을 모색할 수 있었고, 전반적 인 제한 및 고려사항을 포함하여 전문인력 육성과 개선 및 보완사항 등을 제시했다.
