A The purpose of this study is to establish a pioneering role for the Korean police to establish local police activities and to play a pioneering role in community police activities with citizens and the local community through policy suggestions on ways to vitalize local police activities, focusing on the perception of ordinary citizens. The purpose is to suggest ways to take responsibility. The time span was limited to 2010, when interest in community policing began to be concentrated. On the other hand, the spatial scope was studied on the perception of ways to revitalize police activities in the local community centered on citizens over the age of 20 living across the country. To conduct an empirical study, a questionnaire survey was conducted using the self-evaluation entry method targeting 400 adult males and females in their 20s and older residing across the country. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS (Ver. 21) program. Based on the research results, the following policy recommendations were made. First, it is to form a cooperative relationship with the local community. Second, the participation of local residents is expanded. Third, it is to provide customized security services for the socially disadvantaged. Fourth, reinforcement of walking patrol. Fifth, it is to secure the trust of citizens. Sixth is the increase in the number of police officers.

본 연구는 일반시민들의 인식을 중심으로 지역사회 경찰활동의 활성화 방안에 관한 정책적인 제언을 통해 한국 경찰이 지역사회 경찰활동의 정착과 함께 시민과 지역사회와 함께 하는 지역사회 경찰활동의 선구자적 역할을 담당할 수 있는 방안을 제시함에 목적이 있다. 시간적 범위는 지역사회 경찰활동에 대한 관심이 집중되기 시작한 2010년 이후로 한정하였다. 한편 공간적 범위는 전국에 거주하는 20세 이상 시민들을 중심으로 지역사회 경찰활동 활성화 방안에 대한 인식을 연구하였다. 실증적인 연구수행을 위해 전국에 거주하는 20대 이상 성인 남녀 400명을 대상으로 자기평가 기입법을 통한 설문조사를 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS(Ver. 21) 프로그램을 이용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 다음과 같이 정책제언을 하였다. 첫째, 지역사회와의 협력관계 형성이다. 둘째, 지역주민의 참여 확대이다. 셋째, 사회적 약자에 대한 맞춤형 치안서비스 제공이다. 넷째, 도보순찰의 강화이다. 다섯째, 시민의 신뢰확보이다. 여섯째, 경찰관 인력증원이다.
