Recently, there is a high demand and interest in interdisciplinary convergence in the field of academic research. In particular, in research such as area studies, the credibility of claims or hypotheses can be increased by inducing objective information through quantitative analysis of data and using it for research. In relation to this, digital map has been tried as a research method since the early 2000s in the humanities/area studies field, and among them, Electronic Cultural Atlas is a representative result of interdisciplinary convergence research. This study analyzes the security situation in the region around the Gulf of Guinea in Africa based on a digital map. In detail, processing cases and application examples for applying digital maps of information and data on related areas are presented in detail. As a result of the digital map-based analysis, it was possible to objectively verify qualitative inferences by accessing information such as the distribution of terrorist groups and movement routes of pirates and distribution of religions according to the spatial extent of the Gulf of Guinea.

최근 학술 연구 분야에서 학제간 융합에 대한 요구와 관심이 높다. 특히 지역학 등의 연구에서 데이터의 정량적 분석을 통해 객관적인 정보를 유도하고 이를 연구에 활용함으로써 주장이나 가설의 신빙성을 높일 수 있 다. 관련하여 지역학 분야에서 디지털 지도는 2000년대 초반부터 연구방법론으로 시도되어 왔으며 그 중 전자문화 지도는 학제간 융합연구의 대표적인 성과이다. 본 연구에서는 디지털 지도를 기반으로 아프리카 기니 만 주변 지 역에 대한 안보 정세를 분석한다. 세부적으로 관련지역에 대한 정보 및 데이터의 디지털 지도 적용을 위한 가공 사례와 적용 사례를 구체적으로 제시한다. 디지털 지도 기반 분석결과 기니 만의 공간적 범위에 따른 테러집단 분 포, 해적의 이동경로 및 종교 분포 등의 정보에 통합적으로 접근함으로써 정성적인 추론을 객관적으로 검증할 수 있었다.

    Ever since next generation convergence technology became one of the most important industries in the nation, computing professionals have encountered a growing number of challenges. Along with scholars and colleagues in related fields, they have gathered in avariety of forums and meetings over the last few decades to share their knowledge, experiences and the outcome of their research. These exchanges have led to the founding of the International Next-generation Convergence technology (INCA) on December 1, 2015. INCA was registered as an incorporated association under the Ministry of Information and Communications. The main purpose of the organization is to improve our society by achieving the highest capability possible in next generation convergence technology.
