The purpose of this study is to investigate the current status of utilization of extracurricular activities and the perceptions of professors about the needs for activation of extracurricular activities in university class. For doing this, 135 professors in one of major university located in metropolitan area were participated in the survey and then 6 professors who had some experiences for utilizing the extracurricular activities in their classes were interviewed for the FGI(Focus Group Interview) about their teaching experience in classes. Results are followed. First, more than 60% of the participants used extracurricular activities in their classes and while the most used types of extracurricular activities in the class was the activities for improving students’ learning achievement, the extracurricular activities that the participants most wanted to use was the experience-based activities. Second, as methods of using extracurricular activities in classes, assignments was used the most, followed by class activities and autonomous recommendation activities. Third, the professors indicated that the administrative support as well as the supportive policy to activate the use of extracurricular activities in university classes. Therefore, a variety of extracurricular activities need to be developed based on the research evidence as well as the needs of the professors and students in order to utilize it in class for the future innovation of teaching and learning in university.

본 연구는 대학 교수자들을 대상으로 수업에서 활용하는 비교과 활동의 유형과 방법등의 현황을 파악하고 비교과 활동의 교과 활용에 대한 인식과 요구 관련 조사를 분석하였다. 이를 위하여 수도권 소재 A 종합대학의 교원 135명을 대상으로 설문을 실시하였으며, 실제 비교과 활동을 수업에 활용한 경험이 있는 교수자 6명을 대상으로 현황과요구에 대한 초점집단면담(FGI)를 수행 및 분석하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교수자의 60% 이상이 수업에 비교과 활동을 활용한 경험이 있으며, 실제 활용 유형으로는 학습 증진 프로그램이 가장 많았으나, 반면 교수자들이 대학 수업에 활용하고싶은 비교과 활동 유형으로는 체험 활동이 가장 높게 나타나 실제 활동 현황과 차이를보였다. 둘째, 비교과 활동을 수업에 활용한 방법으로는 과제를 제일 많이 사용했고, 그 다음이 수업 중 활동과 자율 추천 활동의 순으로 나타났다. 셋째, 교수자들은 비교과 활동을 수업에 활용하기 위해서 대학 차원의 행정적인 지원과 정책적인 지원이 필요하다고 인식하고 있었다. 미래 인재 양성을 위한 대학 교육 혁신 차원에서 비교과 활동의 수업 활용의 활성화를 위해서는 비교과 활동 활용에 대한 연구 중심의 증거를 기반으로 수업의 유형과 특성을 고려한 다양한 비교과 프로그램의 개발과 활성화를 위한대학의 정책적 지원이 필요하다.
