The purpose of this study is to analyze the trends in multicultural competency research in Korea. 207 papers published in KCI-indexed journals in Korea were selected and analyzed in terms of the publication year, method and subject of research. Frequency and network analysis were conducted on the concept and components of multicultural competency. As a result, research on multicultural competency in Korea has been expanded amid social demands and discussed mainly in terms of measurement and evaluation, focusing on job competency and cognitive factors, and in terms of the ability that an individual must possess. Based on these findings, this study derived the implications for further research on multicultural competency.

본 연구는 국내 다문화 역량 연구 동향을 살펴보기 위하여, 한국연구재단 등재 학술지에 출판된 다문화 역량 관련 논문 207편을 발표 시기, 연구 방법, 대상에 따라 분석하였다. 또한 다문화 역량 개념을 어떻게 정의하고 있는지 분석하기 위하여 각 연구에서 정의하고 있는 다문화 역량 개념 및 구성요소를 정리하여, 텍스트 빈도 및 네트워크 분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 국내 다문화 역량에 대한 연구는 사회적 요구 속에서 확장되어 왔으며, 주로 직무 역량을 중심으로, 개인이 갖춰야 하는 능력의 차원에서, 인지적 요소에 주목하여, 측정 및 평가의 측면에서 논의되어 왔음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 발견을 토대로 향후 다문화 역량 연구에 대한 시사점을 도출하였다.
