This study is about civic education in the moral department. First of all, this study will investigate the relationship between the moral department and civic education. This study intends to show that the Department of Morality has played a central role in civic education and will continue to play a role in that respect. After that, according to the change of the curriculum, the textbook on morality related to the cultivation of democratic citizenship will be described, and in particular, the discussion will be conducted on ‘ethics and ideology,’ which has many content elements about citizenship. 'Textbooks' play the most important role in teaching students. Since this textbook is written according to the curriculum, this study tries to find out how the description of citizenship has changed according to the curriculum, and to propose additional content elements to be described in the future curriculum.

본 연구는 도덕과의 시민교육에 관한 것이다. 우선 도덕과가 시민교육과 어떠한 관계를 가지는지에 대해 살펴볼 것이다. 본 연구에서는 도덕과가 시민교육에 있어서 중심적인 역할을 수행해 왔으며 앞으로도 그 역할을 잘 담당할 수 있을 것임을 보이고자 한다. 그 후 교육과정의 변천에 따라서 민주시민양성과 관련된 도덕과의 교과서의 서술, 특히 그 중에서도 시민성에 대해 많은 내용요소를 가지고 있는 ‘윤리와 사상’에 대한 논의를 진행하고자 한다. 학생들을 가르치는데 있어서 가장 핵심적인 역할을 하는 것이 ‘교과서’이다. 이 교과서는 교육과정에따라 집필되는 것이기에 교육과정에 따라 시민성에 관한 서술이 어떻게 변화되어 왔는지 파악해 보고, 앞으로의 교육과정에 있어서 추가적으로 서술되어야 할 내용요소 들에 대해서 제안을 하고자 하였다.
