The purpose of this research is to examine the characteristics of multi-cultural experience that affect the multi-cultural acceptability of air force officials in order to actively respond to and prevent conflicts and accidents expected in the barracks, and to provide basic data on the establishment of military policies to enhance multi-cultural acceptability through comparative analysis with the multicultural water availability index of the general public. This study was conducted on 351 officials, including lieutenants/commissioned officers of the Air Force, and senior/commissioned officers, using stratified sampling methods. Frequency analysis, t-test and dispersion analysis were conducted for the survey results through SPSS 18.0, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis This study found that direct and indirect multicultural contact experiences, such as contact theory, have an positive(+) effect on multi-cultural acceptability. Contact experience confirmed that it has an emotional effect on multi-cultural acceptability. The results of the 2012, 2015, 2018 multi-cultural acceptability study on the general public and youth, who are resources of the Future Air Force, were compared and analyzed to create policy implications such as custom-made multicultural education and increased multicultural experience for air force officers.

우리 사회가 다문화사회로 급변하는 현상처럼, 군도 다문화 군대로 전환되어가고 있다. 병영 내 문화적인 차이로 인한 갈등과 그로 인한 사건사고에 대한 우려가 깊어지고 있다. 따라서 병영 내 예견되는 갈등과 사건사고에 대해 적극적으로 대응하고 예방하기 위해 공 군 간부의 다문화수용성에 영향을 미치는 다문화 경험특성이 무엇인지 살펴보고, 일반 국 민의 다문화수용성 지수와 비교 분석을 통해 다문화수용성 제고를 위한 병영정책 수립의 기초자료를 제공하는데 연구목적이 있다. 연구진행은 공군 위관·영관 장교, 하·중사 및 상·원사 등 351명의 간부를 대상으로 계층 별 층화표본 추출방식으로 표집단을 선정하여 설문을 진행하였다. 설문결과는 SPSS 18.0을 통해 빈도분석과 t-test 및 분산분석을 시행하였으며, 상관관계분석 및 다중회귀 분석을 실 시하였다. 연구결과 공군 간부의 인구통계학적 특성에 따른 다문화수용성 차이를 확인하였고, 사 회심리학적 이론 중 접촉이론과 같이 직·간접적인 다문화 접촉 경험이 다문화수용성에 대 한 정(+)적인 효과가 있다는 것을 확인하였다. 또한, 2012년부터 진행된 일반국민과 미래 공군의 입대자원인 청소년 대상 다문화수용성 연구결과를 비교 분석하였고, 이를 통해 공 군 간부의 다문화수용성 제고를 위해서는 맞춤형 다문화교육과 언론과 미디어를 활용한 다문화 간접경험 증대 등 정책적 함의를 도출하였다.
